endemic flora and fauna, 4000 cays and sandy beaches, brilliant diving & snorkelling and superb hiking terrain…
Private enterprise seemed to be taking off and accommodation was plentiful. Alison and Ken stayed in several very comfortable “casas particulares’’ and the view from  their room in Havana (above El Malecon), was particularly stunning…Havana is a glorious sea-side capital with its crumbling colonial-style mansions being restored to their former glory, many lively cafés and an abundance of colourful, 1950s vintage American cars…
